The Henderson Police Department has officially closed its investigation into the death of Las Vegas entertainer Danny Gans.
And following that investigation, which showed no foul play, they have released the police report and 911 tapes from that tragic night in May.
News 3's Hetty Chang reports that there is something very surprising about that 911 call: Throughout the entire seven minutes, Gans' wife Julia, Julie to those who know her, remains very calm, even as she is performing CPR.
That tragic night, Las Vegas headliner Danny Gans went to bed early and never woke up.
Operator: Henderson 911. What's the location of your emergency? Okay, do you need police, fire, or medical?
Julia: My husband is not... he... I can't seem to wake him up.
And for the next seven minutes, Danny Gans' wife Julia remained calm and in total control, even as she looked for any sign of life from her husband laying beside her.
Operator: Are you with him right now?
Julia: Yes.
Operator: How old is he?
Julia: He's 52
Operator: Okay. And he's not awake?
Julia: No.
Operator: Is he breathing?
Julie: I can't... I can't tell. I can't hear anything. I'm trying to feel for a pulse.
But there was no pulse. It was then that the operator instructed Julia Gans to perform CPR.
Operator: Okay, listen carefully. I'm going to tell you how to do the chest compressions, okay?
Julia: Okay.
Operator: Make sure he's flat on his back on the ground. We're going to do this 600 times or until help can take over.
Julia: Okay.
Help took over when an ambulance arrived at the Gans' Roma Hills home, about three minutes after Julia began administering CPR.
Operator: Is someone there now?
Julia: Someone's here.
Operator: I'll go ahead and hang up with you then.
Julia: Okay, thank you
The police report shows the last conversation the couple had was several hours before that 911 call took place. Julia told police Danny came home after an afternoon of golf; he asked her when dinner would be ready.
At about 6 pm, Julia asked her son to get Danny for dinner, but he decided not to wake his father after hearing him snoring.
It would then be during the wee hours of the morning, just after 3:30 am, that Julia says she woke up and realized Gans was no longer snoring; he had never woken up.
"Hopefully now that the police department has closed this case, this will bring some closure to the family and they can move on with their lives," says Todd Rasmussen, Henderson Police Department.
Investigators arrived at Gans' home about thirty minutes after the ambulance arrived. They and the coroner state in the police report that they did not suspect any foul play surrounding Gans' death.
That was again confirmed as Henderson Police closed its investigation Thursday morning.
It was earlier this month that we learned exactly how Danny Gans died; the coroner says it was a toxic combination of Gans' health conditions and a powerful painkiller called hydromorphone.
