CSN students protest proposed budget cuts

Updated:

On the budget front, students at the College of Southern Nevada are rallying against proposed education cuts. CSN students signed a huge petition asking the governor to spare higher education.

They share the same concerns as the Chancellor of the Higher Education System, Jim Rogers, who also owns KVBC.

On Wednesday, Rogers sent a letter to county commissioners and Las Vegas City Council members suggesting they help find a funding solution, since CSN serves students in their communities.

Commission Chairman Rory Reid says he appreciates Rogers' concern over funding. ''... I also understand his frustration as the county is subject to the same economic trends that have negatively impacted the state budget.''

Reid says he will meet with Rogers to discuss the situation.
