For 17 years Steve Crupi has covered the big Las Vegas stories -- everything from high-profile murder trials to high-intensity hotel implosions. Steve is the only reporter to attend every day of the Ted Binion murder trial (and the re-trial), conducting over 250 live reports from the courthouse.

Steve makes a point of being on the spot when Las Vegas history is being made, and especially when Las Vegas history is being destroyed! He is the only journalist to conduct live coverage from within the restricted "blast zone" for all of the major hotel implosions. In 1996 Steve earned an Emmy for his efforts as reporter and producer of live coverage of the spectacular Sands implosion.

Steve is a California native with an interest in broadcasting that dates back to age 4, when his parents began letting Steve play with the family's reel-to-reel tape recorder. He anchored the news during his college days at U.C. Berkeley at campus radio station KALX-FM. After that, Steve had the honor of studying with network executives and anchors while attending graduate school at Columbia University in New York City, where he studied law and journalism. Prior to making his move to the desert, Steve worked as a reporter in San Francisco, covering stories that included the Loma-Prieta earthquake of 1989.

Steve is an enthusiastic supporter of the arts and a huge fan of symphony orchestras in particular. He's among the many people in our community looking forward to the construction of a world-class performing arts center in downtown Las Vegas.
