The clock is ticking for Nevadans to register to vote in the November 4 general election.
The last day to register without having to appear in person at the Clark County Election Department is October 4, less than two weeks away. After that Clark County residents will have an additional ten days -- until October 14 -- to register in person at either of the two Election offices.
Election officials are also asking residents to double check their registration status by visiting the Web site or calling 455-VOTE (8683).
"Every election we receive hundreds of complaints from people who filled out a registration application and gave it to someone else to submit to us. But we never receive their application and they find out too late that they are not registered," Clark County Registrar of Voters Harvard L. Lomax said. "I strongly encourage people to confirm their registration now because they still have time to register if they are not."
New voters aren't the only ones who need to get their application forms turned in. People who want to change their political party affiliation or have changed their name since previously registering will also need to re-register before the deadline.
Applications can be picked up at numerous spots around town, including post offices, libraries, banks, and utility companies. You can also request a voter registration application through the Election Department's Web site.
