The story just gets more and more bizarre. Oakland Raiders wide receiver Javon Walker is recovering after being found uncouscious just off the Strip.
The Website www.thedirty.com claims to have contact with Walker. The site reports Walker was abducted from his hotel room at the Bellagio. Now, for the first time, Bellagio reps are speaking out about the incident. News 3's Katherine Whaley explains they're not the only ones who have doubts about those online reports.
Photos of Javon Walker published on www.spyonvegas.com show the NFL player allegedly partying late Sunday night. What happened between then and 7:19 on Monday morning when officers found him off the Strip is still unknown.
www.thedirty.com claims Walker told them three men with guns came to his hotel room at Bellagio, beat and robbed him, and then dropped him off in the street.
Sports fans aren't buying it and say his heavy partying is to blame. "You can't just walk up to a room, there's probably security at the elevators," a caller into ESPN Radio 1100 said. "They get to get away with everything. They walk into a nightclub and they start throwing their money around, and they get away with it again."
In a statement to News 3, a spokesperson for MGM-Mirage, which owns Bellagio, says this:
The facts that have been reported regarding the incident involving Javon Walker are incorrect. I am unable to provide further detail out of respect for the Metro investigation which is currently underway.
About 2,000 surveillance cameras capture round-the clock views inside and outside of the hotel. And the Bellagio is working with Metro on the investigation.
While the details of exactly what happened in the hours leading up to the assault remain sketchy, we do know Javon Walker was attacked and whoever is responsible is still out there.
Metro Police say they interviewed Walker Tuesday night at Sunrise Hospital. The NFL player reportedly lost more than $100,000 worth of cash and jewelry.
