Crowbar mail smash and grab on tape

Updated:

Dozens of people living in the northwest will spend the rest of the holiday season feeling uneasy. A man has stolen outgoing mail in a townhouse community. The crime was all caught on tape.

It happened early in the morning. A man sneaked into the Las Hadas Townhouse Community, checked to see if anyone was around, even looking into the security camera above, and used a crowbar to open the outgoing mail box and took off.

The complex put up security cameras, at a cost of over $13,000, which caught the man in the act, but so far no arrest has been made.

Here's a way to protect yourself:

The postal service says if you're sending anything with valuable information, don't leave it in your home mail box. Instead, take it straight to the post office or mail it from work. Also, don't leave your mail sitting overnight.
