LAS VEGAS (AP) -- Las Vegas officials have decided not to appeal a decision in an ongoing dispute with the contractor that built a local sports complex.
An arbitration panel decided 2-1 that problems at the Kellogg-Zaher Sports Complex resulted from the city rushing incomplete plans to contractor Asphalt Products Corp. to finish construction faster.
Asphalt Products and the city had been in arbitration over the dispute for the past 2 1/2 years.
The city on Wednesday decided it will pay the nearly $2.1 million that the panel's ruling said is owed to Asphalt Products.
Of that total, $1.1 million is payments held until a project is complete and was never in dispute. The remaining $980,000 is damages claimed by Asphalt Products or its subcontractors.
