A DUI case has so outraged the community, it could bring about some changes in law and/or policies.
And now, for the first time ever, Stop DUI is offering a reward for the capture of a DUI suspect.
It's a case News 3's Sophia Choi and the Crime Tracker Team has followed from the very beginning.
Friday, Stop DUI and CrimeStoppers announced a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Carlos Henriquez.
He disappeared after getting out of jail when prosecutors didn't file charges within 72 hours.
And because prosecutors didn't ask for more time to gather evidence, by law, the judge had to let him go without bail.
Henriquez is accused of killing James Corrao on March 14 in a fatal accident at the intersection of Tropicana and Titanium.
At the time of the accident, police say Henriquez's blood-alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
"Mr. Henriquez not only hit and killed my brother and then tried to run away from the scene, he's triple drunk and then is released on his own," says Corrao's brother. "Other people have to post bail for petty drugs, for a bad check, whatever. This guy walks... I guess that's what I'm still troubled with."
The victim's family and their advocates will meet Saturday morning at 9 am at the intersection of Tropicana and Titanium to post about 2,000 flyers.
"We're going to go to shopping centers; they're going to be handed out to people," says Sandy Heverly, Stop DUI. "We're going to be providing them to any area where we have a large congregation of our local folks."
Henriquez has family in town; police believe he may be hiding out with them.
"He needs to come to justice. He needs to be caught. He needs to be put in jail," says Debbie Corrao, the victim's widow.
With the bad economy, Stop DUI and CrimeStoppers hope the $2,000 reward will be enough to encourage someone to call in with a tip.
